Ngaire and Terry Richardson are a married couple based in Christchurch, and have worked together for many years as teachers and instructors. Dawn Dart is also a part of our team and is a highly qualified instructor.

Terry Richardson

Terry is an Anaesthetist with an intensive care background, and has been working full time for the last 10 years in the air ambulance and rescue industry as well as maintaining a more than part time specialist post at Christchurch hospital. Terry is clinically current in his job as specialist anaesthetist for Christchurch Hospital, and with his rare experience in rescue medicine, is especially able to teach from knowledge and experience, in a way that is very relevant. He holds a commission in the RNZAF, and as such he has been involved in aero medical work and teaching for the Air Force over 15 years. In this role he has made medical visits to the South Pacific, Antarctica, Bougainville East Timor, and more recently in Banda Aceh doing Tsunami relief – working and teaching in very challenging circumstances.

The last 10 years of full time involvement in Air Ambulance and rescue has given him much experience of primary care for trauma and medical cases in the helicopter rescue role, as well as secondary and tertiary care in the interhospital retrieval and anaesthesia roles.

Terry is a NZRC level 7 Certified Instructor and especially likes to practise and teach “hands on” medicine.

Ngaire Richardson

Ngaire is a Registered Nurse and holds a Certificate in Adult Teaching from the College of Education. She is an NZRC certified level 6 and level 3 instructor, and as well, is a qualified NZRC Level 2 Instructor trainer. She has 12 years experience of instructing for the Heart Foundation and four years working in her own right, since the NZRC guidelines have been accepted.

Ngaire is a very experienced instructor and is well recognised for her thorough, knowledgable, and engaging teaching style. She is especially adept at working with health professionals in mixed groups at all levels.

Dawn Dart

Dawn has now been with us for a year and comes with a Registered nurse and Aviation Medicine background. Dawn has experience as a flight attendant and works with the training in this area at present as well as with our Level 4-7 courses and MCC Level 4 courses. Dawn also works in the community classes teaching Resuscitation. Dawn is very enthusiastic about learning.
