Training incorporates use of advanced life support equipment, and is taught, hands on, by means of skill stations. Assessment of the skills and written knowledge are rewarded by the appropriate level of NZRC CORE Certification. CORE Certification attempts to provide the basic skills and knowledge for the management of life threatening illness and injury both within and outside the health profressionals immediate working environment
Though some of the skills and the knowledge taught may seem complicated, or are different from those that you may be exposed to in your occupations, there is good reason for attempting to gain these skills for consistency and and teamwork. Though a course such as this cannot teach, and cannot expect the student to attain clinical competence in all these resuscitation skills .The skills taught help to remove the fear of doing something unfamiliar. True competence can only come after a period of clinical exposure and regular practice.
The course also includes an essential pre course session about three weeks prior to the course. This 2 hour Pre-course gives a vital insight into the course structure and requirements, and gives a sense of direction to reading and study.
